Mic Conway's National Junk Band

Drum Media’s Michael Smith suggests the following when it comes to the brilliant new album from Mic Conway’s National Junk Band:

"Mic Conway has always taken the road less travelled and with his gang of four in the National Junk Band, he has found just the right companions to explore the said road's more eccentric byways."

"... heapin' helpin's of unrepentant fun."

"The world would be a poorer place without either this record or the National Junk Band."

"When they decide to play it a little more serious, on Just Like That, Conway and co easily match any of the current crop of accessible singer/songwriters or even rock acts."

"Put aside your preconceptions and go for a ride down a road you never thought even existed."
(Michael Smith, Drum Media Sydney)

Reg Lindsay Passes Away At 79

Reg Lindsay, one of the last surviving early pioneers of Australian country music, passed away last month at the age of 79 after contracting pneumonia. During his career of more than 40 years, Reg achieved success locally and internationally producing 64 albums and 250 singles and winning three Golden Guitars. As one of the pioneers of Australian country music, Reg, who was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to music, had his own top-rating nationally-syndicated television and radio programs over many years. The composer of more than 500 songs, during his career he toured all over Australia and tasted success in the USA. Reg was one of the first to be inducted into the Australian Country Music Hands of Fame in 1977 and was elevated to Australian country music's highest honour, the Roll of Renown, in January 1984.

Yep! Records

The Lovetones

Set for a November 2008 release, 'Dimensions' is The Lovetones fourth studio album and the latest chapter in the indie psychadelic pop legacy of frontman Matthew Tow, who remains one of the country's most underrated songwriters. Beautiful jangling guitars in wide stereo mixed with honest heartfelt lyrics, Tow's songs have an enduring timelessness about them, remaining catchy without ever being contrived. The album was mixed in the USA by BJM's Rob Campanella and mastered by William Bowden (one of this country's finest mastering engineers). The Lovetones will be touring nationally in November before heading back to the USA to support the album's North American release.

Look and listen out for the first single 'Love and Redemption' described by Drum Media as "holistically gentle, thoroughly captivating and highly enjoyable' on Triple J, ABC Sydney, FBI, 2SER, 2UUU, Highlands FM and community radio nationwide.

'Dimensions' (YEP010) is out November 2008 on Yep! Records via MGM Distribution.
