'Diggers' by Warren Fahey
'Diggers', a collection of WW1 & 2 songs and ditties performed by Warren Fahey is out this month on Rouseabout Records via MGM
Distribution. This recording is a unique oral history of the songs that the Australian soldiers sang. This collection mainly comes from the first and second World Wars however, there is no doubt that many of these same songs were sung by 'Diggers' who marched away to Korea, Malaya and Indonesia.
Look and listen out for Diggers in Capital News and on Radio 2GB. The album was serviced to the good folk at community radio nationally via Amrap last month.
Warren Fahey's YESTERDAY'S AUSTRALIA Series CD's include the earliest recordings of Buddy Williams, Smoky Dawson, Reg Lindsay, Tex Morton, Shirley Thoms, Bob Dyer, Johnny Ashcroft, plus early radio serials, music hall, comedy and more.

Possibly the most important cultural statement ever encompassed on an Australian compact disc. This is a spiritual music journey providing living evidence of the direct relationship of indigenous people and the land. Nyalgodi or Scotty Martin, is the pre-eminent living
composer in the contemporary world of the Ngarinyin, Wunambal and Worrorra peoples of the North Kimberley and is currently the last composer of his people's songs.
The songs on the album were digitally recorded by respected musicologist Dr Linda Barwick. The project was funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Australian Research Council with the support of Sydney University. Dr Barwick's extensive and thoughtful notes accompany the disc in a booklet that gives life to the songs. In terms of similar artists of a global
nature the closest comparison would be the late Qawwali singer and tradition holder, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan of Pakistan. Nyalgodi-Scotty
Martin has been featured on ABC TV's Message Stick. Look and listen out for Nyalgodi-Scotty Martin on 3PBS, 3RRR, 4ZZZ & 6RTR.
